Context: God sent the plagues to Egypt to release His People, The Israelites, from Slavery. Exodus 3 is God foretelling the events that will transpire to Moses before Moses returns back to Egypt to carry out Gods will. God’s promise ends with sending the Israelite women to ask for silver, gold and and clothing, because the battle had been won.
“And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be, when you go, that you shall not go empty-handed. But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, namely, of her who dwells near her house, articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing; and you shall put them on your sons and on your daughters. So you shall plunder the Egyptians.” – Exodus 3:21-22 NKJ
When God is on your side all you simply have to do is ask, be bold to knock and all will be given.
There was no fighting as God had already fought the battle for them,
There is no payment as Jesus paid it all (New Testament) and The messiah has always been predestined in the Old Testament
There is no sacrifice or struggle as God has taken care of all you needs.
There is no intimidation or manipulation as God has already provided the way. They sent individual women out to get to the goods, in ancient war women and children are kept away from the battlefields until the battle had been won. By sending the Women, God showed he expected no signs of opposition. They didn’t need their 6ft 5 muscular guys to collect, with God He can use the least and transform you into the most.
All you simply must do is be obedient, be bold to walk up to the door and ask for it – claim what is yours.
Our God is so great and operates with military precision. The very things you thought could never be possible with God are walks in the park.
The plunder is significant. Not leaving empty handed is an important line. The spoils of war always go to the Victor. God did not allow His people to slink away into the night like victims, but they walked out of bondage with more than they had came with. Originally they were 12 brothers now they are a nation to be feared – because of the God they serve.
The question today is:
- Do you know who you serve?
- What do you need to ask for today?
- What is holding you back from claiming what is yours?
A closed door is still a Yes.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV
When God closes a door he opens a window” is a common phrase. But what scripture tells us is that the door that is closed is a delayed blessing – that this temporary rejection or unmoving force now, is actually God saying yes to something in your future.
Take a moment to spend time with God, to make a bold request of God and pray for the confidence and obedience to put your faith into action. Remember, God told the Israelite women to ask, but they still had to have faith to do it.
